The Marantz CINEMA 50 S2 combines power, precision and connectivity in a network AV receiver designed for advanced home theatre systems. Its 9-channel amplification delivers 110 W per channel into 8 ohms for an immersive audio setup, while processing for up to 11.4 channels provides greater flexibility for adding speakers and up to four subwoofers.
Compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS Pro and IMAX Enhanced, the CINEMA 50 S2 creates an enveloping soundstage that precisely positions effects, dialogue and ambience around the listening area. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration analyzes room acoustics to optimize speaker and subwoofer performance. It is also compatible with Dirac Live through a paid upgrade for those who want even more advanced acoustic optimization.
The CINEMA 50 S2 will also support compatible Denon Home V2 wireless surround speakers through an update. This option will make it easier to add rear channels in spaces where running cables is more difficult.
Six 8K-compatible HDMI 2.1 inputs let you connect multiple next-generation sources, while three HDMI outputs make it easy to connect different displays or viewing zones. eARC support also allows audio from a compatible TV to be transmitted using a single HDMI cable.
The CINEMA 50 S2 supports 8K video passthrough, full-rate 4K video, 4:4:4 colour subsampling, HDR, Dolby Vision and HDCP 2.3. VRR, ALLM and QFT help provide a smoother, more responsive gaming experience. Newly added AMD FreeSync compatibility also helps reduce screen tearing and stuttering when used with a compatible source and display.
Built-in HEOS technology lets you stream music throughout multiple rooms and group the CINEMA 50 S2 with other compatible HEOS devices. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity make it easy to play content from a smartphone, tablet or computer.
The CINEMA 50 S2 now features Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready certification, providing additional options for network music enthusiasts. It can also transmit audio to compatible Bluetooth headphones and now lets you control headphone volume directly from the receiver.
Pre-amplifier mode makes it easier to integrate external power amplifiers into a more elaborate system. A front USB input provides convenient playback of compatible content, while a newly integrated rear USB power supply can power select accessories without requiring an additional wall outlet.
The Marantz AVR app lets you control the unit's main functions from a mobile device. Compatibility with the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app provides additional customization options, while remote system monitoring simplifies maintenance and diagnostics in compatible installations. ECO mode helps reduce power consumption based on usage.
